44flavours

44flavours is an urban art collective based in Kreuzberg – Berlin, consisting of Sebastian Bagge and Julio Rölle. Their work showcases a high level of knowledge of the diverse fields of art, by incorporating and rearranging these fields to bring their own visions to life.

Growing up with graffiti and the derivative sample and remix culture of hip-hop, both artists developed their own individual styles without the implicit limits of any specific medium – instead they exploited multiple media like silk print, collage, installation, sculpture and painting to support and best express their ideas and tastes at the moment of creation. Often times the results are very colourful, playful and expressive. Their graffiti origin 44flavours transcended into their completely own style also influenced by art history with styles like early modernism, cubism, Dadaism and expressionism to name a few and current cultural streams such as the street art movement of the early millennium.

The positive basic attitude of the artists expresses itself in the arrangements of the art works. The progress of creation sometimes reminds one of musical jam sessions, following an idea, a vision in an open process, not sure of the end result yet. 44flavours also worked for several musicians, bands and DJs who they are friends with in the Berlin scene producing cover art works for their records and more.

44flavours is not only synonymous with the strangely beautiful exhibitions, which frequently sprout up all over Europe but also with a cutting edge Design Studio, which focuses on a very broad scope of graphic design, illustration and typography. 44flavours is still evolving in an environment of unlimited freedom and creativity. Their studio activity is dedicated to pushing skill, craft and conceptual knowledge to their ever widening limits.
